National Day of Prayer: Thursday, May 6, 2021

To coincide with the National Day of Prayer, many locations around town will have public prayer available to the community. 

TENTATIVE Annual Health Fair: Date/Time TBD
Local vendors provide FREE health care advice, wellness information, and promotions. 

Memorial Day Services & Parade: Monday, May 31, 2021 from 9 am on the Town Square
Join your friends and neighbors for services to honor those of the Armed Forces.

Summer Band Concert Series: Thursdays, June 10 - July 29, 2021 from 7 - 9 pm at the Town Square Bandstand
Enjoy a leisurely summer evening and listen to some live music. Bring your own chair or blanket. Refreshments available from a variety of vendors. Check the calendar to find band and food truck information. 

TENTATIVE Independence Day Celebration: Friday, July 2, 2021 at 7 pm. Fireworks at Dark. (Rain Date: Monday, July 5, 2021) 
Join friends, neighbors, and family to view a spectacular Fireworks display at Elmwood Park. There will be food and beverage booths as well as games to enjoy!

TENTATIVE Home Days & Parade
An annual event for the City of Independence to share in the celebration of our community. There are many wonderful activities starting with the parade, carnival rides, games, contests, live entertainment, and dancing. A tasty variety of food and drinks are provided by city organizations. All events held at Public Square. Learn more.

TENTATIVE Fall Fest & Clambake: Sunday, September 26, 2021 from  Noon - 4 pm at Elmwood Park
Independence families and their friends are invited to Elmwood Park to enjoy fun and festive activities with entertainment & dancing, a hay ride, car show, and much more! A variety of food & drinks provided by City organizations and a clambake (must be pre-ordered) will be available.

TENTATIVE Veterans Day Celebration: Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 11:30 am - 2 pm at the Civic Center
The Mayor extends a special invitation to our residents who are Veterans or serving in the Armed Forces to join us for a luncheon in their honor.

TENTATIVE Holiday Fest: Sunday, December 5, 2021 from Noon - 4 pm at the Civic Center
The Civic Center becomes a special place for Independence families and their friends to enjoy performances by local organizations, vendors with unique gifts for purchase, pictures with Santa, City sponsored kids' crafts, and delicious food. 

TENTATIVE Remembrance Celebration: Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 6 - 8 pm at the Civic Center
An evening to commemorate and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away. This non-denominational service includes music, readings, and the name of your loved one read aloud as you place a remembrance ornament on the tree.
